PAYAPILLY PALAKKAPPILLY

Payyappilly Palakkappilly is an ancient Mar Toma Nasrani (Syro Malabar Catholic) family in Kerala, India. It was one of the Jewish families believed to be baptized by St. Thomas the Apostle.

Payyappilly Palakkappilly family originally hailing from Kottakkavu in North Paravur is presently spread in central districts of Kerala.

Servant of God Payyappilly Palakkappilly Varghese Kathanar (1876 - 1929) hails from the noble family of Payyappilly Palakkappilly. He was the founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Destitute (S.D).

Varghese Kathanar was declared as Servant of God by His Beatitude Maran Mar Varkey Vithayathil, Resh Methrapolitha of  the Syro-Malabar Church.
